Typography

Tasked with: Created spreads pairing a chosen font with a chosen brand. Focus on using grids as tools for organization and expression, prioritizing hierarchy, and legibility; Understanding how to use type as a graphic element and design grids that balanced information with visual expression.

Though the project required countless iterations, my biggest challenge was finding the right balance of white space, cohesion, and hierarchy within each design element.

Creating a Typeface

Tasked with: designing a typeface over four months through iteration, experimentation, and refinement.

My early iterations were rough, and I quickly realized they wouldn't satisfy my perfectionist tendencies. Many of the versions that followed felt just as frustrating as I worked to understand how to approach typeface design. Months of experimentation and refinement later, I created a typeface that still fell short of my expectations, but as a perfectionist, I knew it would have to do.
