Typography

Undergrad Courses

Throughout my typography courses, I developed a strong foundation in using type as both a functional and expressive design element. I created multi-page spreads that paired a chosen typeface with a selected brand, using grid systems to organize content while emphasizing hierarchy, legibility, and visual rhythm. These projects required extensive iteration, with my biggest challenge being the balance of white space, cohesion, and hierarchy across each layout. Another project involved designing an original typeface, refining it through continuous experimentation and critique, to strengthen its form and consistency.

Though the project required countless iterations, my biggest challenge was finding the right balance of white space, cohesion, and hierarchy within each design element.

My early iterations were rough, and I quickly realized they wouldn't satisfy my perfectionist tendencies. Many of the versions that followed felt just as frustrating as I worked to understand how to approach typeface design. Months of experimentation and refinement later, I created a typeface that still fell short of my expectations, but as a perfectionist, I knew it would have to do.
